You really have to like old trucks to want to bring that back to life.?ÿ That's not a project, it's a career.

I am not nearly mechanically talented enough to do much more than regular maintenance on a vehicle. Someone apparently thought it good enough to save. They better hurry and move it... the yellow monsters are moving in.

Looks to be a '46 Ford.?ÿ Mercury made the same truck that year, but the Merc's grille ran horizontal unlike the Ford's vertical grille fins.

I agree it's pretty close to the point of no return.?ÿ You would have to really, really want that truck to save it.?ÿ But I'm betting its value is in the pieces.?ÿ There were not that many produced.?ÿ There were some '45 Fords made for the military and were basically the same truck.?ÿ This appears to be the "civilian" '46 model.?ÿ Lots of collectors out there that deal in pieces and carcasses...looks like someone already grabbed the doors.

Barn finds. Projects. Careers in restoration. It's all tempting!

There are motorheads out there that are looking for exactly that type of thing. ?ÿRat rods are growing in popularity. ?ÿA neighbor who is a mechanic/engine rebuilder/racer and his grown son who has followed in his foot steps have made some bizarre conversions. ?ÿThe son ?ÿrecently completed converting an early 1940's Dodge automobile. ?ÿChrome all over the engine and exhaust, with extras of all sorts, but the body still looks like it belongs out in the hedgerow where it was found. ?ÿThey have even added the ability to raise and lower the body relative to the ground, just for fun. ?ÿ Another neighbor has done something similar with an ancient Ford pickup, including stretching the body by about four feet.?ÿ

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rat_rod

There are youtube videos showing many examples but copy/paste to here does not work for some reason.

That is one of the perks of this job.?ÿ ?ÿSeeing areas and things that are totally hidden from the rest of the world.?ÿ ?ÿWish I had the time to buy and restore some of those barn finds.

Note that those $65k NZ dollars equate to about $45k US. I'd bet you would be every bit that much into Stacy's barn find and still not have a runner. Especially if you included minimum wages for your time. Like Paden says, it probably has value as parts.?ÿ?ÿ
