back from 2.5 weeks in the Adirondacks. Visited Lake George, Tupper Lake, Saranac Lake and Wilmington. Did a 4 day, 40 mile canoe trip on the Bog River Flow and Lows Lake, Climbed a couple 4,000 foot peaks (Cascade Mtn and Mt Porter) and other various hikes and mountain bike rides. Ended up camping only 8 nights as the hot weather drives us to air conditioned hotel rooms, but I guess the heat was worse outside the mountains.
Here's an interesting fact about the park:
The Adirondack Park spans 6.1 million acres and is larger than the state of Massachusetts. In fact, several National Parks could fit inside the Blue Line (the line on a map that designates the outline of the park), including Glacier, Yosemite, the Great Smoky Mountains, Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon.
Here's a few pics:
Love the Adirondacks already been there twice this summer and expect to get two more trips in. Great place to be.
thanks for the pics and trip report. I spent my college years at Paul Smith's College, and the memories of the Adirondacks are sweet indeed (as well as the bugs and frigid winters, but that's another story). Favorite places included Blue Mt, Keene Valley, Raquette Lake, and the entire Fulton chain of lakes. I have not had a chance to get back up there for quite a few years. maybe once we retire...
I'm a PSC Alumni '80. PSC and the Adirondacks is still one of my favorite places on this planet. My career/job in land surveying and the GNSS Industry has taken me around the globe 3-4 times in 25-years. The Adirondacks in the fall with all the fall foliage splendor is pretty awesome, hard to beat, I've always preferred the mountains over the Beach/Ocean, I lived/worked in HB, Orange County, CA for 12-years. Always way too long between my return visits to the Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, PSC area. I went to PSC during the 1980 Winter Olympics, being an Ice Hockey player, I had the privilege to attend all the USA Hockey games, a major life experience. If and when it's my time, my ashes will be spread in the ADK's...
