I farm and have become tired of sitting on my iPhone in my back pocket on a tractor. After being in the field this week surveying I realized what better place to get a review of IPhone cases that are durable and also have a case or clip to attach to my belt. I was working a job in the field plus still supporting my other crews on a couple projects so emails and text and phone calls never end. But the wife just bought us a couple new phones IPhones and I was wondering which brand of cases protect and also attach to your belt easily but stay on when pushing through through thr briars and such. I must have dropped my phone 3 times today looking for a calf and thankfully my daughter has good ears as she could hear it ring in the briar patch. So tonight I am asking the experts you party chiefs have probably done figured this all out.?ÿ

Put it in a clip in front of the steering wheel and use it for "Precision farming guidance" ?

I never did like putting a phone in my pocket.?ÿ With a new phone, I quickly get a Lifeproof case and for a while I used the Lifeproof clip but broke enough of them getting caught on underbrush that I now use a belt case.?ÿ My last one was a $5 Tractor Supply special with velcro closure.?ÿ It worked well for almost a year until the side elastic started giving up.?ÿ I lost my phone out of that case thousands of feet back in thick woods.?ÿ Had to hike out, drive to borrow a phone, drive back, walk all over calling the phone, then walk out and drive out.?ÿ An entire morning shot.?ÿ I now use a deep leather case with a magnetically closed flap but it isn't likely to come out on its one without it being closed.?ÿ the case loops into my belt on the side and is out of the way but accessible.?ÿ I may die with this setup as I don't see anything better.
I use a lifeproof case for the phone.?ÿ In the tractor or combine I use a ram mount that suctions to the window.?ÿ Have been known to mount my ipad to one to watch nascar races or UK games when I have to be in the field.?ÿ Otherwise, I only wear Duluth carpenter jeans with the ruler pocket on the side to carry the phone.?ÿ It's on the side of the leg, so you're not sitting on it.
@jimcox I do listen to music. The wife bought me some bose noise reduction headphones. I love those things.
@eddycreek I use to use a ram mount years ago for a laptop they always held up nicely. ?ÿI wish my tractor had a cab it??s open station. I can??t complain though I love it early spring and fall. Its i. The middle of hay season it gets a bit hot making small squares. And cold putting out hay in winter. ?ÿBut that??s why the made coveralls and such. I had one phone as I was hitting play on a song drop and well the disc mower took very good care of that one lol.

@notsomuch Do they make a clip also or something that will hook on my belt. ?ÿI am truly just over the whole cell phone thing. I wish I could go back to a phone hanging on the wall with a chord. Lol. But it has become a necessary evil today. ?ÿOne of my daughters is in FFA and because she is in so many events and after and during school things and such we have broke down and about to get her one of these phones. Nothing worse than the wife or i sitting somewhere waiting on a bus for a hour and have no contact of where when or what is going on and why bus is late etc. I am compiling these suggestions so otterbox lifeproof etc. I will check the ones at TSC as well. Maybe I should invent one that hangs around my neck because it seems these things fit more appropriate that way. Like a ball and chain. ?ÿ
I've been using Niteize belt cases for almost 20 years.?ÿ The velcro closure eventually gets weak after some years, but I've never had a phone slip out anyway.?ÿ The belt clip is very strong, and you can rotate the case if desired (though I never do).
@jim-frame Thank you. ?ÿ20 years sounds like my kinda deal. Buy something once and keep it for many years. I retro fitted an old paint can holder belt thing the orange ones and it is perfect for my eye glasses and case. Snug as a bug in a rug lol. And I don??t sit on them or they don??t fall out of my shirt pocket every time i bend over. Adding this one to my list. Maybe I could take some old uniform pocket with some military grade velcro and just make one lol

I have a similar belt case with velcro. Every few months you need to take a pointed tool and clean out the hook side of the velcro, as it collects threads off the fuzzy side.
@bill93 your comment about cleaning out the hook side of velcro makes remember looking at a cuckle burr under a microscope and comparing that to the hook side of velcro . ?ÿI reckon that is what gave someone the idea maybe on making velcro. ?ÿIt never ceases to amaze me that everything we humans engineer or create has already been done in nature and we somehow create or mimic whatever that is. ?ÿI reckon we truly don??t have or create anything without the influence of what we see in nature. ?ÿI am leaning toward the velcro thing looks like it might help keep the dust and sun off of it better than the clip on ones.
Probably 55 years ago I read something in a farm magazine about how the cocklebur was used in Russia for some medical purpose.?ÿ That same day was spent cultivating a few million cocklebur plants out of a field of milo.?ÿ I kept thinking to myself, "Some poor Russian missed out on a cure today."

@holy-cow Now that is neat. I am always being amazed at how we as humans keep finding new things to use something for. Like I had a bunch of city slickers ride out with me on the farm once. We scared a skunk and of course the smell. ?ÿOne fellow said what use is the skunk. I said well that scent is a double edged sword. It can be used to prevent things animals from coming near you or as a cover so you can get closer to other animals. He said why would an animal want to be close to that smell. I said i don??t know ask my dumb dog because she seems every couple months likes to tangle with one. ?ÿAnd then roll around the porch leaving that scent everywhere. Lol. Begga lice is another tough sticky item. The last through the washing machine dryer several times and no matter how much the wife fusses at me they still seem to show up. Lol. I have no idea what they are truly called but they stick every where on clothes.
There is the story of a farmer who had his two city-slicker grandsons with him one day about this time of year.?ÿ They kept asking questions about everything around the farm as they walked here and there.?ÿ They saw a couple of ripe pumpkins and asked, "What are those?"?ÿ Grandpa told them they were 'mule eggs'.?ÿ He plucked a couple small ones and tossed them down the hill into some buckbrush where he knew a couple of jackrabbits hung out.?ÿ Sure enough.?ÿ As the pumpkins smashed into the buckbrush, two jackrabbits came running out.?ÿ Needless to say, the grandsons were very impressed.

@holy-cow Yes I bet they were. Lol. Yesterday looking for a new calf. The girls 11 and 8 were frolicking through the woods and pastures just doing what they do. Acting silly and such. I had moved to a gravel road and was watching the yellow hair bop along the thickets and came across a nice black snake sunning on the gravel. I called the girls as I always like to show them snakes and other critters as I want them to be able to identify the good harmless snakes from the poisonous ones. ?ÿSo they come a running. And we spent 10 minutes going over what to look for and at in identifying the different characteristics of the snake. And low and behold a degnabit turkey came running from where they just where. My 11 year old said run turkey run it??s almost thanksgiving and daddy will deep fry you cajun style.
@notsomuch yeah my wife has the otterbox. But she places her phone in her purse. I need something like that for sure and also a way to attach it to my belt or something instead of just shoving it into my pockets. But I don??t want something that will cause me to lose it either. Like mentioned above sitting on a phone on a tractor seat is no fun and also losing it in the thicket??s is no fun either. These things cost more than my first truck now days. I already have enough things sticking in my pocket when fencing lol. I need to find out which model phones she just bought. I just know we all have to have iPhones for whatever reason. Grandma grandpa son daughter etc. thats what the boss sais as it makes it easier for FaceTime and sharing whatever it is pics etc. I prefer a flip phone. But my new job requires me to keep email and some other app communication thing. Teams I think its called. It??s neat but man. I can get email text call and team??s message or call all at once now. I wanted the droid and just put Trimble access on it and then i would just be able to fill in on jobs anytime. Thank you for the link.
