Spent the day in Auschwitz and Birkenau...sad and depressing to say the least...

Very sad but a part of history we must never forget so it will NEVER happen again.

The eyeglasses, the dishes, the shoes...the shoes ALWAYS get me in the heart. When I toured the Holocaust Memorial Museum in D.C. I did OK until I came to the shoes. Then I lost it. 🙁

What did it feel like walking through that, Daryl? I don't think I could do it without a box of kleenex with me. Thank you though, for sharing the pictures. They tell a story all in themselves.

I want some of them pastries in the Polish subway there. 🙂

I decided not to view your photos. There is just too much wretchedness these days for a person to live with without really feeling bad.

Daryl:

Your pictures are always so crisp and clear.

What type/model camera are you using?

Unfortunately it has happened again in several places. Genocide is alive and well.

Watched an episode of Gene Simmon's Family Jewels yesterday where Gene visited the Anne Frank house in Amsterdam. His mother is a concentration camp survivor, and he was moved to tears, as was I. It is amazing how truly horrible we can be to each other...

Hey Daryl,

Great pictures, as usual. Although the pictures are great, they convey the heartbreak and sorrow associated therewith.

Have a safe trip back to your “home” wherever that is! I suspect it’s somewhere near the North Pole.;-)

Take care, and keep them pic’s a comin’.

Inglourious Basterds

Great pictures. A family friend was in the very, very, first group of American soldiers to enter Aucwitz (however you spell it). Never really got over it.

Inglourious Basterds

I agree 100%. This was my favorite for the Best Picture Oscar last year and for screenplay. I didn't see it until after the awards, but thought it was fantasticly acted, directed and written.

Ruel,

That avatar is just bad, Calvin and Hobbes were buds. Although sometimes Hobbes got the raw end of the deal. But usually he planned a successful revenge;-)

Have a great week!

Great photos as usual.

Not nearly the first time I've seen this type of thing, but I'm a little bit shaken right now.

Very nice but sad photo's. You did remarkable with framing them and showing a reverence for the trip to Auschwitz.

Your ability to use the camera is just one thing that you do so well. Another is your ability to understand the significance of the shots that you are taking.

Well done my brother.

Sam.........

.........and others who have friends or family members who bore witness:

Please keep that in mind, and speak up when people claim "it never happened".

Sam.........

Yeah, what kind of crap is that? How can anyone say it didn't happen? I've never understood where they could possibly be coming from.
