Woke up Saturday morning, it was 57 degrees at the homestead, so At 6 went for a nice long run in a tee shirt and shorts thinking it was kinda hot, then all sweaty got some gas and started feeling cold, got a shower went outside and it was really chilly, by noon it's 20degrees, picking up the girls at the show and it's 8 degrees, windy, snowy, and this morning its -8 and maybe 6" in the ground. Way too soon for this mid January type weather......

You're right...way too early for this.

A few minutes ago I checked the NWS CONUS temp map. Chanute, KS. was reporting 36 degrees and the next station south in OK was reporting 66 degrees..

I guess the cold air is spilling out into the southern plains, too..:-/

Friday afternoon I drove within 3 miles of the geographical center of the U.S. A thermometer on a bank sign said 80. We checked our vehicle's reading and it was 78. That is absolutely insane for being three days from December.

Paden is right about the quick temperature change. It was much warmer when I headed out to feed the critters than when I returned a few minutes ago. Our high for the day, 37, is only a memory.

We've seen single digit temps in Nov - kind of brisk for the valley this year. And we had 4 - 5 inches Wednesday. Good thing I had the plow on the tractor.

Old Farmer's Almanac says lots of snow and cold this winter.

Meanwhile, in Alaska ...

+22 and 2 inches of snow. What we are hoping is that now that you lower 48er's are so cold and snowy, maybe Discovery Channel will start doing reality shows there that make you look like fools, we're tired of it!

This showed up on FB>>

I grew up in Homer, AK, and I have to laugh at a certain "reality" TV show about a family that supposedly lives in the wilderness.

The last of these Alaska 'wilderness' themed Discovery shows to turn my stomach was called Alaska Bush People. They filmed on a subdivision lot over in Copper Center pissing off their neighbors by leaving the place trashed. Later they were charged with PFD fraud.
