Local All State insurance company office building burned down a few weks ago.
They had been there for about 30 years. I think that they owned the building. I remember that a company that Iworked for di the survey way back when.
So who would investigate the fire?

A surveyor that I know had his office in the builing for the last 25 plus years. It looks like he maybelost the office. I guess that he can salvage something but i don't know how much damage that happened in his space but the buildng is shut down.
.
I had spoken top him about a week before the fire and he said that he was cutting back on a lot of work due to his age/health.

I can't imagine losing all of your erecords and computers records etc.

The All State people have found new space to lease in town already.

Fire and old records do not mix. The office I took over had a fireproof vault where they kept all the mylar drawings. But I had to move out of there, so I have my daughter scanning all his drawings into PDFs. Then I can keep copies in more than one location.

Bummer for your friend. I wonder if there is some kind of loss of income deduction he can get from the IRS along with whatever insurance he had (hopefully). At least he doesn't have to spend any more time wondering who he can find to sell his records to. :-/
