When I first started out on my own, I used the name GPS Consulting, and registered the domain name gpsconsulting.com.
When I brought on a partner, we chose the name Terrasurv, and never used the gpsconsulting.com again, although I have kept it registered. Now a person with the initials GPS has a consulting company, and wants to buy the domain name from me. The fact that it is GPS makes me think it might be a bit more valuable than just someone's initials (like jvhconsulting.com for my initials).
I had never offered it up for sale, but I told him what I though was a fair price and it is way more than he wants to pay.
So how does one go about determining a price for something like this?
That should be a very high dollar domain name if sold to the right party. You wouldn't sell your house for $20,000 if you had any idea the buyer was going to turn around and resell it the next day for $2 million.
I do not think it is worth as much as you think it is. They can add a letter or change the domain extension, even use ConsultingGPS.com

Take the money and don't look back.
Now if you had GnssConsulting.com you could of really made some money.
I don't know the exact figure, but I'm thinking I remember Mark Deal sold "rpls.com" to the POB folks in '99 or '00 for 25 to 30k, paid out over a period of time. For some reason they wanted it that bad.

I would think the number of offers you've had over the years would give some indication of the demand. Have you had any others? Even if you haven't had it for sale, others would have contacted you if demand was that great.
17 years ago my partner and I sold bridgespan.com for $35k.
If I owned that domain (and I wasn't using it) and someone asked me how much to purchase, I'd probably say somewhere around $5k.
I know several folks that have made a mint on selling their business name with phone numbers.
Trademark has market value.

I'd sit tight, if they, or someone else wants it bad enough they'll pay. 😎

My brother registered 1.21gigawatts.com many years ago. He broadcast his own radio station called doc brown radio. Someone offered him 2.000 for it and he sold it with a grin.
I would expect a very wide price range for names. IT DEPENDS on how much the buyer wants it. Some might think they have to have it and have deep pockets. Others may decide a hundred bucks is exorbitant and think up an unused variation.
when I go to gpsconsulting.com it times out
but when I google "gpsconsulting.com" I get several related hits... perhaps one of them would be interested.
years ago I created several domain names, I let almost all of them die. I only retained two. I got an inquiry Once, and I "gave it away" via email but never heard or checked. I have no clue what that one was, maybe I gave away a golden egg.
