It must be nice to go through life knowing your poop doesn't, and never will, stink because you have a large amount of net worth, financially speaking.
?ÿStarted this morning on a small job to cut a few acres out of a tract with a total of maybe 50 acres. ?ÿThe real estate agent was pushing for the job to get completed because he had a buyer for the few acres and a different buyer for the remainder and the buyer of the remainder was in panic mode to get the deal closed. ?ÿThe buyer of the small tract is who called me in as I have done several jobs for his family members. ?ÿWithin 30 minutes of getting started Mr. Mydoodoo Dontstink comes rolling up demanding to know what we thought we were doing. ?ÿAt that moment I had no idea that he was the buyer for the remainder tract. ?ÿHe has a VERY successful commercial business dealing with multi-millionaires on a regular basis. ?ÿHe immediately started telling me I didn't know what I was doing. ?ÿWhile, in fact, I was doing exactly what the buyer of the small tract and the real estate agent had told me to do. ?ÿI clarified what I was doing and why. ?ÿAgain, he told me I didn't know what I was doing and grabbed for his phone to contact the real estate agent to demand a change in the plans. ?ÿI let him know that I would continue doing what I had been told but would add in a couple of shots just to see what would happen if the plans were changed to what he suddenly wanted done.
Two hours later the real estate agent called to request that the plans be changed to what Mr. Dontstink was demanding. ?ÿI met the agent onsite a few hours after that to discuss how the cost was going to escalate. ?ÿHe explained that he would now be paying for the survey out of his own pocket, so please go with the new plan. ?ÿA bit later I overheard him telling the seller that Mr. Dontstink threatened to back out on his purchase unless it was done HIS WAY. ?ÿThe buyer threw up her hands and said, "Whatever he wants, I guess." ?ÿMeanwhile, the little guy who got me into this deal is very upset but doesn't have the ability to overpower Mr. Dontstink.
Poo flinging and dirt stopping is really entertaining to watch...especially when it's being done by folks that are overly impressed with their own ability to draw a clean breath.?ÿ I've been known to interject quips like "Now I see why your (wife/husband) said all those things about you...they sure were right".?ÿ I told one guy "Hey, I'm not your wife! Don't talk to me that way".
In your situation I'd have probably packed up and left, probably blowing the?ÿdeal...if that was what the buyer decided.?ÿ Life's too short to listen to idiots make noise.
btw - My poo don't stink either.?ÿ It comes pre-packaged in cellophane with a little pine tree shaped?ÿtruck-stop air freshener stapled to it... ??ÿ

My first response would have been, Who are you? and if Mr. Bigshot got snotty I'd ask him to please get the hell out of the way so we can finish what we are here for.?ÿ ??ÿ
So let me get this straight..........someone you have never met, have no business with & had never heard of chases you down?ÿ in the field and begins to berate you and impune your integrity.....is that about right??ÿ?ÿ

In this specific community you must be recognized as a regular occupant in the pews of a specific church or you are unworthy to waste their oxygen. ?ÿThe local pecking order is determined within those walls based on ancestry dating back to the first settlers. ?ÿIf your great-great grandpa was a manual laborer you will be viewed as a manual laborer regardless of your education, experience and career choice. ?ÿIf your great-great grandpa was a man of means you automatically, by birth, are treated as such. ?ÿOut-of-towners are at the bottom of the pecking order.
Similar situation in many communities, both large and small. One similar church near here recently changed preachers because the incumbent was just "not country club material."?ÿ

Most of the time irate people will become friendly if you explain what you are doing and treat them respectfully, at least that has been my experience when dealing with them.?ÿ ??ÿ
I can be very gracious and accommodating but it is usually predicated on being treated as most everyone wants to be treated.
If someone is a jackass right from the start I usually walk away without a word. I am a conflict avoidance type of guy but I am not opposed to giving exactly as I receive .
I don't see why there should be a problem with Mr. Dontstink demanding that the land be split the way he wanted it.?ÿI do have trouble with him being rude about it.?ÿ
