Looking for recommendations for an internet fax service. Need to be able to send and receive but would have a very low volume.
TIA,
Doug
We use FAXage for our very low volume e-fax.
Less than $5/month typically.

What about using MagicJack 2014+. Super cheap. Its what I use and works great for fax. I moved my Main line and fax line over to Magic Jack from Vonage and am glad I did. No more fed fees and taxes like old line had. Now if I can just get the cell phone bill under 200 per month is the challenge.
I use trustfax..reasonable and easy.
if Sprint works in your area check out Ting. It's awesome.
I've been lurking for quite some time here and finally created an account early this week.
I will second Ting for cell service if Sprint works well in your area. My wife and I have been using it for a year and a half. Most months our bill is around $40 (2 phones sharing 500 minutes, 1000 texts and 100 MB of data).
In the age of email and scanners, why would one use a fax? I know they still have their limited use.
I have all my phone, fax and email set up through my cell phone with AT&T. They have a service called "Office at Hand" where you get a local number, toll free number, virtual receptionist and a toll free or local fax number. All incoming faxes are delivered to your email and you can send a fax directly from your phone or computer.
I have been recommending to our clients to use http://faxzero.com .
Doesn't cost anything to send up to 3 pages and 1 cover. It allows up to 3 free faxes a day. Receiving is another issue. You would need your phone hooked up to your printer to receive is how I do it at home. Many of today's printers have that capability.
You can send/receive Fax with Google. Gmail, GoogleDrive and HelloFax are required I think.
I use rapidfax. It is $9.99 a month, and it has been pretty good. I started it 7 years ago when I opened up my business. It is reasonable enough, and I can send out going fax from my email, or from their website. The number is local, and when I receive faxes, they go straight to my email in PDF form.
It's not me that "wants" a fax just some people we do business with won't do it any other way.

Thanks folks for all the replies. Not a lot of options in my area (1 hour drive over a mountain pass to the nearest stoplight) but I'll research the suggestions and see what fits.

Same here Doug. It is helpful sometimes.
Doug- If you're still looking, you should use an online fax comparison site like FindAFax.com or FaxCompare.com. Sounds like you'll have a hard time finding a local number for your town, but you can always get a toll free number from one of the online fax companies. FindAFax's comparison grids include a line showing the availability/ cost of a toll free number with each company. That site also has a page (findafax.com/internetfaxservices) where you can filter the companies to only show ones that offer toll free numbers (which, honestly, is most of them).
Hope that is helpful.
