I got the idea from that historical bit you posted above that the Rock Island didn't reach Pond Creek, OK until after 1894. I thought that was Pond Creek in the background. One of the more telling bits for me is that it looks as if there is still a grocery store where there was a grocery store in the 1894 photo. Grocery stores tend to be more permanent than churches in small towns.
