Recruiter: Hey, it's been a while since we spoke. My client just emailed me a job opportunity that you are a good fit for. Would you potentially be interested??ÿ
Me: What a coincidence...not only is this job a good fit for me, it's apparently a good fit for my Director of Surveys that you sent the same message to, and a good fit for his Project Manager that you sent the same message to.
Ha!
Maybe this was one of those people Phillip Johnson was referring to.......?ÿ ;)?ÿ :))
Read as "good fit" = recognize a prism
lol.
?ÿ
I like the ones that state something like "would love to discuss a career opportunity with you in private.." and send the message to you via company email.
?ÿ
I'm sure my boss gets a kick out of that one..
that business must be brutal.?ÿ it's not uncommon for me to get 4 or 5 different people hitting me up for the exact same "opportunity."?ÿ a couple of them will actually take the time to?ÿslightly edit the cut and paste job posting that they're pimping, most don't.?ÿ and some of them are clearly just spamming anyone with the right letters behind their name- one guy who i actually spoke to once when i didn't know who was calling (spent about half an hour explaining not only why i wasn't interested but why probably few would be) has repeatedly sent me emails since, as if he completely forgot either that we spoke, or else everything i said.
I get random ones sometimes saying you'd be a good fit for this lead surveyor/department head... and I think really??ÿ I've never even PMed a project.?ÿ I must be even more AMAZING than I realized! ?????ÿ

That's a sure sign that (a) the headhunter didn't even look at your resume, (b) they really don't care about matching up candidates with the right position for them, and (c) the company they're shilling for most likely treats its survey department like crap and they cycle through managers often.
A high-quality company will do its own search for high-quality people, and rarely use headhunters - who 99% of the time know very little about the position or the profession they are shopping for.
Most recruiters don't care what warm body they can fill a position as long as the person lasts longer than 90 days and they get their $20K vig.
?ÿ
@chris-bouffard The times I've dealt with them I wish is was only $20K - the ones I've spoke to recently want 30% of the candidates first years salary
I must be even more AMAZING than I realized! ?ÿ
I had one reach out to me about a position as the East Region Aviation Practice Leader at Jacobs.?ÿ?ÿ
Now...my ego is certainly big enough to think that I could do the job; but my guess is that the hiring team wasn't going to be willing to bet on my ego.?ÿ?ÿ
Don't mess with them.
