Now we're getting picky
True Southerners don't worry about such details. But we do communicate!
> If I was to start a correspondence with: Dear Fellow Surveyors; would this be offensive for the female surveyors included, or is "fellow" gender neutral?
Well, I don't know why this didn't occur to me earlier. It's a natural:
Dear XX and XY Surveyors:
You're welcome
I like it! :good:
Political correctness is offensive to me.:-P
> I've never liked the use of "dear" when addressing anyone you would not call "dear" in person.
:good:
But Kent,
You have left out some XXY'ers, not to mention the XYY'ers, too!
:good:
But Kent,
> You have left out some XXY'ers, not to mention the XYY'ers, too!
Not to mention the XYZers.
Fellow Surveyors; is this... ?
> Seems fine. How about a folksy "Greetings Surveyors", or "Dudes and dudettes"
Well, "Greetings Earthlings" would work if from some alien entity such as an engineering firm.
Kent, What about the gender neutrals ?
RADU
> Kent, What about the gender neutrals ?
Okay:
"Dear YY and XY Surveyors and You Who Remain Uncommitted"
Between Superbowl I and Superbowl 50, roman numerals were removed from the curricula of most elementary and middle schools in the US. Maybe the folks in charge of naming the Superbowls heard about the change.
[sarcasm]Now what will we call a "manhole"?............[/sarcasm]
Although a really laughable subject, I have seen several non-gender specific terms for manholes:
The most thought-out:
Buried Facility Inspection Point Cover
The dumbest:
Personhole
Here in Norman at the University of Oklahoma we have the Women's Basketball Team Head Coach, Sherri Coale.
A top notch basketball coach that just happens to consistently refer to her players as "my guys"...
