We are trying to determine the minimum wages (surveyors) for a federal project in Pierce Co., WA.
Can someone provide a link to this information? We had a copy but can't find it and for the life of me can not find it on line.
Thanks
I think you'll find what you're looking for HERE.
There's a little more to it than just paying the rate. You have to jump through a few more hoops than that. Give me a call if you need some help, I'll see what I can do. My number is in my profile.

All surveyors are $35.68 if the job is Washington State prevailing wage project. Usually if there is ANY state funding then the wages would be the higher of the State or Federal wage.
If it's a Federal Job with Davis-Bacon wages then there is no minimum as surveyors do not fall under the Davis-Bacon Act.
Hope this helps
I am not speaking from any recent WA experennce here, but aren't professional surveyors exempt from this? After all we are professionals surveyors not street sweepers or sheet metal workers.
I know, speaking from experience, that here in Idaho we have worked several jobs in the past few years where worked for contractors to provide staking services on Davis-Bacon projects and never had to.
That is a good one. So when a surveyor is on prevailing work job he is making $20/hr + what he puts into his 401k account (maybe matched $50 a week if he is lucky)and that makes him a professional. The mason is making $35/hr and $15/hr benefit package. Things are messed up! My 2 cents, Jp
Thanks
We found what we needed.
Thanks
When I work Bacon jobs (which I love!!) My rate is right at $56/hr. If I am in an administrative position, it is my regular rate.

In WA, all prevailing wage jobs require that the contractor file an intent to pay prevailing wage and then do so. These jobs are open to bid. These services include all trades and construction, including construction staking (Which is considered a trade for these purposes, and the contractor has the local of the Operating Engineers to draw from if they want union.)
All professional services provided to governments are supposed to be qualification based selections, and then the price is negotiated in good faith AFTER the firm or professional is selected. Sooo...when you see an request for a bid for a topo from a school district, they are breaking the law...they should be asking making requests for qualifications, and then negotiating the price after selecting the firm. But, you see it all the time.
There is danger here. We are used to working as professionals, but if a contractor calls you up, and asks you to come measure something on his prevailing wage job, and the work falls under construction surveying, and you do not submit an intent to pay prevailing wage, even if you happen to pay the prevailing wage, you could be in violation. (According to the nice lady I talked to at L&I).
BTW, prevailing wage in King County is $48.96-$50.39
(But I think I am mixing apples and oranges? Davis Bacon is not the same as Washington State law governing contracts to governments, is it?)
Now it's been a year or so since I've worked DB, but I thought the highest "surveyor" rate was about $43/hour. Has it changed that much? I guess I should look it up and educate myself.
