I just bought a bluetooth dongle to boost the range of my Carlson Mini (Juniper Archer). It's not the Parani, but from LM Technologies (found locally and cheaper). Anyway, I usually expect everything to go wrong and sure enough, the Archer puts out 5v on the DTR pin and the dongle requires power on 9 pin (and so does the Parani). Who knew? Not me...Am I stuffed? I think I can smell burning..
As I can't call or email anyone 'til Monday i thought I would ask here.
I had a similar problem with a Targus bluetooth units that I bought to have Bluetooth on my laptop. I have tried off and on for a few years to get it working, but without success. One day it might work for a minute, then it won't. I never thought about voltage.
The Parani units are the first bluetooth units that I have seen work flawlessly.
Check if there is a separate power point available, small hole. I know my Parani's can accept power from a separate battery pack or through a usb power cable, each purchased separately.
I have some external devices for my laptop that require a double usb connector cable to get enough power.
