Nice! Now plant some color on each side of what looks like an old ligustrum bush out front. ?????ÿ
This photo got me thinking about what I've often wondered about this forum, and relating to the recent retro re-branding discussion of it, as to whether the bulk of the participants are suburban or rural, and the big city big corporate surveyors (if there is such a thing?), and the entities that order equipment by the container load, don't participate.
Congratulations! I am headed in a similar direction. Stories like yours are inspiring.?ÿ
I am headed in a similar direction
Always move forward; never look back, unless that's the direction you want to go!
Actually, it was more like this one:
This is my standard response, when ever anyone asks; How's it Going? I like to keep a positive attitude, and trying to make every day the best day ever is my goal...
?ÿ
I signed the paper work on my office today! I've been renting space from another surveyor for the last few years; he's retiring so I made him an offer he couldn't refuse! Well, I suppose he could've; he actually told me what he wanted and agreed...
Anyway, it's a done deal! All he had to do was hand me the keys! He was able to keep some personal stuff; pictures, computers, he had about 15 stuffed deer heads and antlers hanging around his office; but everything else is mine! Even a Chevy Suburban 2500!
So I guess you could say I'm pretty happy! I may have even done the happy dance!
?ÿ
I hope everyone has a great day! I know I will!
Dougie
It's just a guess, but the other surveyor was probably doing a happy dance too! He's glad to be rid of that ball and chain!

the other surveyor was probably doing a happy dance too!
Yeah; all the way to the bank...
No fair.?ÿ I can't travel to that place i love to travel to so much and spend lots of time.
Thats WAY better than liquid sunshine all the time.
Always.
@richard-imrie Yes, I am a Big City Corporate Surveyor. I do nothing but point and look at spreadsheets and type proposals...well that's 92% of my time. It sucks.
@stlsurveyor?ÿ The last 3 or 4 years before I left I was about the same way.?ÿ The previous 18 years with the same company were a different ball game.?ÿ We were bought by a national firm who practiced engineering and surveying a whole different way that I had learned.?ÿ Before the acquisition I visited (almost) every jobsite and walked most of them before the crews got there.?ÿ I did all the research, all the computations, and reviewed all drawings.?ÿ We went from being an engineering/surveying office to a "Profit Center", their words not mine.
Andy
@andy-bruner Yup it is a shame to spend years learning and getting licensed to only find yourself wasting it all most of the time. I really miss the small office gig. Those that work solo or with about 10 or less have it made!
