That's a great point about the well-intentioned causing harm too.?ÿ If I tattle, it likely be because of the this.
@jitterboogie well if you actually plug in their lat/longs into a survey grade gps system you only miss by 15'+/- and of course they have the clause at the end of the easement stating that the center line is based on the physical location of the poles and wires.
Those clauses are great...because in 100 years when the line is gone, my grandson will simply note on the ALTA that the easement cannot be plotted hereon.
tax maps aren't surveying
9 times out of 10; when the client tells me, " I have a copy of the plat, so it should be REAL easy"; they show me the copy of the tax map they got with their title.
The general public is clueless, ignorant at best. It's never a big deal, until someone suffers damages; then, who will suffer the consequences?
And, what can we do to prevent that from happening?
DWTK
Just depends non how good their lawyers are at the time..... ???? ???? ?????ÿ
Another strike against the 100k prize.....?ÿ ???? ???? ????ÿ
@jitterboogie Whether the work that qualifies one to sit for the professional examination must be under the supervision of a licensed engineer varies by jurisdiction. New York wasn't bothered one bit by the fact that my bosses were not licensed.
No idea. It was a long time ago. I said 10 years, bit it might have been 15.
@flyin-solo We used to have a guy around here (Chattanooga) hand draft the surveys by hand just to get around all those cad requirements. He told them he didn't have cad and they could not require him to get it. I used to laugh. I think years ago the City of Tampa or one of the municipalities used to make us use their layer scheme, it used to tick me off so bad. Boss didn't care he just raised the price accordingly.
lmfao- here's the latest on the dallas scenario.?ÿ send the exhibit and a metes and bounds off for the final determined tract, 8.364 acres (364,353 square feet).
get comments back today from... guess who... that i need to revise the m&b to 364,335 because 8.364x43,560=...
i can't wait for this phone call.
How about we just round it down to exactly 8 acres and call it good?
that was the gist of my response.?ÿ to which the city lady suggested me adding additional decimal places.?ÿ basically i let her know that, as a professional, i am governed by and obligated to a couple of specific entities and sets of rules, and that until she displayed some credentials giving her the authority to represent any of them that our conversation was a waste of our time.?ÿ?ÿ
an hour later client let me know that the comment was no longer an issue.?ÿ remarkable to me how many surveyors just lay down in the face of this kind of stuff.?ÿ "well, i deal with surveyors all the time and i've never had..." "you haven't dealt with me before."
