(Here is more paperwork, comrade.)
Just to keep everybody on their toes, the Department of Homeland Security has revised the I-9 form so they can keep track of your employee's immigration status.
? ????? ?? ???????, ? ??? ??????!
it is hard to believe 😉 (if someone says it in Russian)
Had to renew your drivers license lately. Doesn't matter if you have had one for 45 years. You must prove your immigration status. You need a certified birth certificate and your official social security card. I suspect before much longer you will need to provide DNA.
[sarcasm] Didn't you see on the form you have to poke your thumb for blood sample that you must take your right thumb and dip in the blood and make an imprint? That way they have your thumb print and DNA![/sarcasm]
Renewed mine last Fall, I had my learners permit in 57, same drivers license number since 58, that,s 54 years. Needed a certified copy of my birth certificate, not the one with my footprint on it that the Hospital issued, but the State archived document. Kind of funny, I had a certified copy of it because when I applied for my Merchant Seaman Papers I needed a copy, so I obtained two, Those papers will get you into and out of country's by ship without a Passport. Those papers were issued on 10/16/64 and I still carry them. With my birth certificate, my Seaman's Papers with my 1964 photo and my CWP with my photo I was able to get my drivers license renewed without making another trip. What took me by surprised was their accepting those old 64 papers, without blinking an eye as ID. Had hair in that 64 photo, the thumb print, other than a bit of erosion should match.
jud
Thanks for posting that! One less piece of bureaucratic updates to worry about. You made SWMBO happy! She's the one who is in charge of the business side of the Company.
Have a great week! B-)
ps: the Nun said Hey!(that's northernspeak for hello)
I just renewed my DL, no problem, just gave them my old license, took the vision test (I'm over 50 now!), got my picture taken and voila!
-JD-
Must vary by state, DHS hasn't completely taken over yet. Didn't you need your social security card. I checked the veterans box (they can put that on your license now). I didn't have a copy of my DD214 so I just dropped that, didn't want to make another trip.
My wife didn't take all the right "papers" to her license renewal. Got rejected, had it out with the lady at the counter. Came back mad as hell.
:good:
Last summer I renewed my DL over the internet, kept the pic from 4yr before and it came in the mail, no problems.
B-)
We used to do that. Not anymore due to immigration laws (maybe state specific). At least for one cycle of current renewal you must prove your citizenship or legal status to be in the US to get a DL. Seems a bit much to me but I don't see all my neighbors as potential terrorists either.
> ...... I don't see all my neighbors as potential terrorists either.
I'm sure this has more to do with illegal immigration than terrorism. Homeland Security has its tentacles into a lot more than counter-terrorism.
> Had to renew your drivers license lately....You must prove your immigration status. You need a certified birth certificate and your official social security card...
I have no problem with that. A reality in today's world.
