The organizaiton Academics Without Borders is once again seeking a candidate for an interim position teaching surveying in Bhutan. Applications are due by 1 July with work to start on 15 July.

The particular position will have one to two semester duration and consists mostly of teaching surveying practice.

I will post the announcement to a web site shortly. I thought I could cut and paste but cannot.

Announcement is here:

While they would prefer those with either an MS or PhD, a BS in surveying or closely related field would be fine. My opinion.

Cool! Wish I could afford to volunteer but not in a position to do that. Thanks for posting.

This is a great opportunity, Bhutan is one of the hardest countries to visit in Asia. Second only to NK that is.

Not trying to be a jerk but have you looked at your signature?

When I was younger and free of encumberances, I did not take advantage of some opportunities for adventure. I regret doing so.

Now that I am again newly free of obligations, I find that I do not know much about construction or roadway surveys coming from a geodesy background. If I had the knowledge and experience, I would go for it.

Bhutan is by all accounts a wonderful place to visit.

The only country I am aware of that puts more value on their 'Gross National Hapiness' than their ' Gross Nationsl Product'. I only wish I could take advantage of the opportunity.

Yes, but unfortunatly reality plays a part. I have taken a lot of risks and continue to seek challenges, but three mortgages prevents me from other choices. I still love to "dance" but I don't in the middle of the interstate. However, getting my doctorate and teaching in retirement is actually a goal of mine. Right now I am seeking a paying position and hope to see my grandkids more often after eight years in war zones.

As I said I was not trying to be a jerk. I was looking to provide a nudge in the event your situation would allow it.

Good luck.

Unfortunately, it appears that there were no candidates for the advertised position. If anyone is able to drop everything to take advantage of this opportunity, they have mere days to do so.
