Mine is one-quarter mile distant.?ÿ Now, think of cities with a rail line passing through them and the population of those who live within one-quarter mile of the track.
For over 20 years I lived three miles from the train track.?ÿ I had a light fixture in the bedroom above my?ÿ bed that would rattle every time a train went down that track.?ÿ I would notice the rattle then make a conscious effort to hear the train in the distance.
For about 4 years I lived within 300 feet of a train track.?ÿ Never once did I awake due to train noise.
