Is this the same job that was advertised at Christmas?

No, That was for my replacement as the City Surveyor. This position provides suport to the City Surveyor.
I hate to break the news to you, but the City of Redding Website sucks. You can't log in to apply for this alleged job opportunity. My humble guess is they already have somebody in mind, and this is just a formality to stay PC. Yes, no?
Your humble guess is wrong, there is on one in mind for this job. On another note you're right about the web site. I just found out the City is now only taking applications on line for all postings. I think it's a bad idea, but I'm a surveyor.
If you are having problems applying call personal at 530-225-4065 and they will walk you through it. I apologize for the hassle.
Try clicking the link for the job details; the clicking the link that says "apply". Take you straight to the log in page to create an account
Thanks
Question from someone who is not going to apply. What does the typical house sell for in Redding? One that an Assistant City Surveyor might want to be able to pay for out of his salary. I have no idea. Just asking.

Season starts soon! Yesterday I was telling a guy that when I walked to the office it smelled like the first day of trout season. I wouldn't give up these backwoods and my farm. Something nice to come home to every night.

🙂 🙂 🙂
My wife's best friend is from Aaronsburg, that is some sweet country up there.
We just opened an office in Mechanicsburg that I have my eye on if we expand to offer surveying in addition to just engineering.

If you have a bachelors degree in Civil Eng. or Surveying, and a couple of years of experience, and are making $30k/yr - you might want to consider a move. Northern California is a pretty nice place to be.

Redding has always been on my 'short list' of places I would relocate to.

I agree, Nice area for sure.
Mr City, with all due respect I humbly do apologize for my snide remarks. It is just that so many of the websites out there take you in a circular path to madness. I did call the nice lady in HR today and it seems they utilize the same server program as many other cities, counties, etc around our beloved US of A. Once you log in, it saves all your pertinent data. Then you can edit it as suits the position.
I forgot my user name, and it was not apparent that Redding did in fact use them. But the nice HR lady said to click a different button. 45 minutes later I guess it got submitted.
It looks like a cool job, kinda like one they described that they just copied my resume for. And being one of those surveyors with a BS in Forestry, I really love those big ole' trees

I used to live in Waynesboro, PA. I loved it over there. Worked slowed down and had to move away.

HOT in the summertime.
> HOT in the summertime.
Stays hot at night, too -- no delta breeze like we get in the Sacramento area.
It's close to the mountains, which is good. It's not very close to the urban amenities of the Bay Area, which I consider not so good (though others put that in the plus column). The area has struggled economically for decades, partly due to the demise of the local logging economy, partly due to its remoteness from the urban centers. Redding has been the "next big thing" for 50 years.
