Sometimes reading the employment ads, you come across a new twist on the whole surveying scene. I admit i don't think I've ever seen an ad like this.
Contract Land Survey Crews Needed
If lot surveys are going for $300, how does the math work on this ?
That ad reads like an Exacta Survey position. The advertize on a regular basis it seems and all over the country. Their ads have been around for years in slightly varying formats.
The math seems to rely on quantity rather than quality....
Welcome to Al Capone's backyard. There is residential and then there is residential. There isn't enough cash in the First National Bank of Chicago to get me to enter some of those residential neighborhoods on the coldest day of the year when everyone with any sense at all is inside and leaving you alone to do what needs done. If it's warm enough to walk to the liquor store, I will not be in that neighborhood.
Who certifies and how could the field work be considered "under the direct supervision" of a licensed surveyor. Better have good E & O policy.
$300? They must have realized that they goofed up then went and fixed it. The add now says $110 per lot survey. It also says that their crews complete 4 to 6 in a day.
How do these people avoid losing their licenses for negligence & incompetence or fraud?
say what
That surprised me, didn't think I could laugh that loud......

My thoughts too. 6 a day? Including drive time? It's gotta be a BS drive by Boundary Survey. Not to mention that Chicago has some pretty bad neighborhoods if you haven't heard lately.
The ROS must be worthless. Worth less than toilet paper. Too rough....
