Sometimes we have to put up with some "terrible" working conditions. (grin)

Protracted's photos make the Oregon coast look so inviting but it is predictably rough and wet from October to June . ?ÿI surveyed the?ÿYaquina Head lighthouse about 25 years ago when the BLM put in the interpretive center and the handicap accessible tide pools.?ÿ We did the work in November & December when the Pacific was in a foul mood.?ÿ I got a call from the forester about having the crew out working in 100mph winds.?ÿ He was a little upset that I would make them work in that weather until I let him know I was out their with them.?ÿ That night a pizza joint on Hwy 101 lost its roof in the wind.?ÿ We bagged it in the morning.

As a side note, weather on the north coast was great today.?ÿ Tomorrow will be another story.?ÿ

My experience from college (Go Ducks) was that the Oregon coast was at its best in winter, during a storm, in a hotel room with a fireplace, a cute girl, and a couple of bottles of wine.?ÿ ??ÿ

Edit - or a bottle of wine and a couple of cute girls.?ÿ

Those tidepools are mostly exposed but the handicap accessible path is covered with sand.?ÿ Sand movement oscillates and the path may reemerge again.?ÿ Other things oscillate too, like that pizza place's roof has come off a few more times.?ÿ

Cheers, Eli
