About the Position:
L.A. Stevens & Associates, Inc. is located in Novato, Marin County, California.?ÿ Approaching thirty years doing business throughout the San Francisco Bay Area,?ÿ L.A. Stevens & Associates, Inc. is a well-established Professional Land Surveying firm seeking a Licensed Land Surveyor (PLS and/or LSIT) interested in working as a Project Surveyor.?ÿ This position may be tailored to the needs of those hired.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for research, field, and office work.
Work closely with the Principle Land Surveyor responsible for the work.
Work produced by L.A. Stevens & Associates, Inc. includes simple & complex boundaries, land title surveys (ALTA), topographic mapping, least squares, adjustments, monitoring, forensic, GPS, Elevation Certificates, map preparation, legal descriptions, and construction staking.
?ÿRequirements:
Must be able to lift loads in excess of 40 pounds and work in and around poison oak.
Will be operating one of our company vehicles and must have a clean driving record as reported by the Department of Motor Vehicles of the State in which the applicant??s driver??s license is issued.
Qualified individuals working with us enjoy being a professional team member while having the opportunity to work on projects independently.
Must be proficient and demonstrate skill in the following areas:
AutoCAD Civil 3D
MS Office Suite
Written and Verbal Communication

Since I have always heard that the cost of living in San Fransisco is extremely high, curious what the expected pay range would be. Position similar here in StL land would pay between 80-65k. Cost of living in San Fransisco per Google is 243% higher out there! Yikes

Novato is in Marin County, one of the most expensive Counties in the State.?ÿ Both of my Grandmothers lived in Marin County (Mill Valley and Greenbrae) when I was a child.?ÿ Compared to Bakersfield I thought Marin County was paradise when we went up there every summer.?ÿ Dad why in the heck did you leave Marin County??ÿ My Grandmother's former house on Grove Street in Mill Valley is now worth over $2million.?ÿ There is pictures on Zillow, haven't seen the inside in decades, very cool old house with a very Craftsman interior.
My Dad would say you could always plan a BBQ in the southern valley summers, no problem with the weather, it's going to be clear and HOT.?ÿ Also owning a swimming pool made a lot of sense so of course my parents never did.

What's it pay? Come on give some idea of what your offering for salary instead of weasel words.
Odds are the pay isn't enough to afford a house on a single income, but nothing here really does.?ÿ You'd need to make $171k/yr to afford a house in San Francisco and $216k/yr in San Jose.?ÿ Novato is a lower cost of living than the other 2, but you'd still likely have to commute in Sonoma County (approx. yearly income needed to be home owner: $114k).
I have no doubt that you are correct. I have a pet peeve about this crap in that surveyors seem to treat basic salary concerns as some kind of super secret and use weasel words like "Pay DOE".........well no shit Sherlock. Give a range of expectations and what it's based on and what is required to move up and advance.
