Growing up every building, school and city street was outlined with 4in steel pipe that were too narrow spaced to drive between.
A buddy of mine found out what they were for one day as he was distracted and hit one with the bumper of his Apache PU truck.
Truck stopped instantly, pipe never moved and there was only a scruff in the paint of the bumper.
Stuff was made better back then.
