I have been playing with C3D 2013 and would like to get some help drawing surveys that I have already completed. I would like to start with the very simple and work my way up.

Here is what I am looking for. I send a PDF of a survey I have completed and we go step by step and draw it over the phone. It may take a few calls per survey and I could pay per call. I am not in a hurry but I want to learn the software. I am good with Terramodel and could do everything I need but it is know time to learn C3D. If you are interested please let me know. Thanks and have a great day!

I would highly recommend the "C3D for Surveyors" course avalible from various official trainers. Two days of trainig that will make a world of difference for you. I took the 2012 class and it translates into 2013 without much effort. They provide the data sets and cover everything from auto-linework to surfaces to closures, good stuff.

I am taking one in February. Since I don't have any AutoCad background I wanted to get some experience so I can ask more advance questions.

Just Curious, why did you go with C3D over others? Like Carlson Civil?

Hi CM,

Civil 3D is surveying and engineering tools added to the basic AutoCAD engine. Do you need to start with learning basic AutoCAD, or are you ready to jump into the Civil 3D tools?

There is a wealth of YouTubes on the subject of AutoCAD and Civil 3D. I'd be happy to link you to the best ones.

I looked at all of the programs and felt C3D was my best bet. 90% of my surveys are done for the purpose of developing large single family home subdivisions; so I do a lot of Bndy/Topo/Wetland/Tree surveys and plats. I figured since no matter what program I chose I was going to have a large learning curve; I should go for the program of the future. I believed that to be C3D after my research.
