Canada is hiring!!!

From Sunday's LA Times online:

"Here in the western province of Alberta, energy companies are racing to tap the region's vast deposits of oil sands. Canada is looking to double production by the end of the decade."

And here's the kicker:

"Since 2010, about 35,000 U.S. workers a year have been issued work permits, according to Canadian immigration statistics. That's up 13% from earlier in the decade. And that figure is expected to grow as provinces continue to loosen requirements for temporary foreign workers."

If you know anything about the oil business, extracting oil is a real
bugger when sand is involved. Smart petroleum engineers solved the
problem over 30 years ago but it is still expensive. Canadians are
heavily involved in fracking. That oil comes out of the reservoir
very nicely when there is unconventional gas involved.

The energy industry in the US is currently taking a policy like GW Bush
did with the Saudia Arabians -- you use your oil before we use ours.
We will wait for the price to go back up again. It is the same deal
with Canada -- let's wait until the Canadian's oil is gone.

I talked with a surveyor who ran 14 crews in the Haynesville Shale.
All of the surveyors are laid off because of low shale gas prices.

Mexico wants to import cheap shale gas from Texas. They want to
invest $200 million. Well, they will have to drill it themselves.
Why drill when you can buy it cheap?

Canada needs the money -- they will keep drilling.
