Subject: OSU Institute of Technology needs a PLS to replace retiring instructor.

Civil Engineers and fellow Surveyors,

I am retiring from my position at OSU Institute of Technology at the end of this
semester. I look forward to spending time sailing and spoiling my grandchildren. I
hope to find a position working part-time as an office surveyor or civil
engineering technologist. It has been my pleasure to work with the students, faculty
and staff of OSUIT.

Following is the posting for my position.

Job Summary:

* Facilitate learning in a theory/lab based environment for Associate and Bachelor
of Civil Engineering/Surveying Technology students.
* Courses include Introduction to Surveying, Surveying I, Land law I and II , Civil
Applications, and Construction Management.

MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must meet the physical demands of the position to include standing or sitting for
long periods of time, bending/stooping, and working in a busy and flexible work
environment; must be able to lift and move up to 40 pounds. Reasonable
accommodations may be made to enable the individual with disabilities to perform the
essential job functions.

various software packages found in industry.

* The successful candidate will have strong oral and written communication skills,
as well as excellent human relations skills.
* Must be able to handle multiple tasks and resolve conflicts as necessary.
* The candidate must be committed to working as a team player, taking initiative and
assuming responsibility.

I thought we had some odd place names here in CA (e.g. Coalinga), but Okmulgee beats anything we've got.

Don't forget about

Hooker and Slapout. The big boys told me you have to go through Bowlegs to get to Maude.

As for the job applicant, it would be good to be a proud Okie from Okmulgee, or even Muskogee.

There's an old, old story about passenger trains going from Kansas into Oklahoma. In Kansas, no drinking cups were provided for passengers to access the crocks of drinking water due to public health concerns. The rider had to provide his own cup. They really complained when they hit Oklahoma and heard the conductor shout, "Nowata".
