Hello,

My father in-law was a land surveyor. He passed away and among his equipment is a Zeiss EltaR50 that he purchased but never learned to use. What do you think this transit is worth today? It was a top of the line unit and is in mint condition. Thanks in advance for your help.

Peter

Suggest:

Search eBay, completed listings.

Here is a recent one, found via that means:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/383306511295

It a handy mechanism to find out what the market bore, in the recent past.

SMI used to feature this total station as a package as this advert shows from an old catalog. This one was from an old manual circa 1999. Don't know how well it will interface with today's data collectors but if well taken care of, it should fetch a decent price. I think i tried talking my boss?ÿ into picking up one of these, but that never happened. We were using Pentax's at the time and they didn't want to 'experiment' with another brand

Looked at that old eBay post and recognize the old coiled orange DC cables I used to purchase from SMI. I'm guessing the gun might have been one of those packages...

Worth more if it is reflectorless. I had a yellow Trimble 3306 LR reflectorless which said it was an Elta R50 when you turned it on. I was sent a loaner blue Elta R50 when my unit went to factory for repairs. That R50 was not reflectorless, so I do not know if all are like that. Still have it but it is no longer repairable, and could not get a factory battery pack.

Solid little gun with nice optics. It makes for a great backup in case of emergencies.
