Another monument found in the Black Hills last week. I stumbled upon this beauty while looking for an 1898 USGS bench mark southwest of Spearfish. Sections 30/31, T5N, R1E of the Black Hills Meridian.

Did you happen to search for the Mile Post 94,4.89 chains south?

Yes I did, but didn't find it. The state line was not marked in this area, so it was a little tough getting in the right direction through the trees. Admittedly, you get me away from the roads and fences on cardinal directions and my inner compass gets a little off. :bored:

Noticed the the 'CC' on the cap and wondered, what line they 'closed on'.
