In the last few days members of this board have given me names of a few more surveying programs to add to my list. In my checking on them I cam across this link which blew me away. My list has about 88 colleges, I had a few duplicates. This list of 93 colleges includes 46 that are not on my list. Once I have merged the lists we are talking about 120 college surveying programs in the US. There are 33 programs with 5 or fewer students, and 10 with only 1. I take it that is part of the reason so many have not been heard about by others.
It will take me a while to check out each program, but you can check on them and please report back if you know someone from the smaller programs.

These enrollment numbers don't make any sense. I think some schools must have reported the number of students per year, while others reported total in the program.
Interesting list , but not complete. Neither of the 2 Community colleges located in Mississippi in previous posts are on that list. I know the one at Hinds Community College currently has about 15 students enrolled.
But then Mississippi tends to get ignored on a lot of polls. :-@
Mississippi State & Jones County Jr College Also Missed
That is why I have to merge the lists. To verify is going to take a while.

I don't think that link is using good data. The University of Wyoming has many more than 2 students in their surveying program.
The University of Florida really has about 40 students right now (which is about half the number they had before the recession). Back before the recession, they were pushing for at least 100 students enrolled at anyone time.
The University of New Hampshire, Thompson School, has a two year program.
University of New Hampshire Is On My List

My Alma Matter made it into the top 10 and it's one of the priciest. A lot of money for an above average education. Hard to find jobs in this area now, I keep in contact with professors and I try to send soon to be graduates to places I can think of.
A Stopper ?
When did you graduate?
I have been checking the StateUniversity.Com list I posted out and found something interesting.
The Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico has a BS Land Surveying and Mapping program as well as an MS in Geospatial Science. Penn State offers an MS in GIS why can't they add an MS in Geomatics or at least Geospatial Science?

I have been looking into the Penn State programs myself. I'm hoping my fiance gets the position she applied for so maybe next year I can take some night classes at a 75% reduced rate.
I'm not sure what and how they determine what MS degrees they offer. You would think a large and well known university as Penn State would be able to offer such programs.
Nicholls State has 40 - 60 enrolled; 5 might be the number they're graduating.
The tuition numbers look a little suspect.
They quote the "total on campus cost" at The University of Akron as $22,551, but the university's web site says $9,734 per year tuition in state / $18,098 per year for out of state students.
I think they're counting housing and board. A dorm room is $7000-$9000 and the full meal plan another $3000+.
