Yesterday, with a little fiddling with autoexec.bat and config.sys files in the Virtual WIN XP running inside of WIN7 64, I was able to get WILDsoft to run, last copyright date is 1992. For those not familiar, this is a DOS COGO program that was a real workhorse for use in the 1980's and early 1990's.

Only thing is it runs in a window, can't full screen it due to some video issue. I don't use this in production any longer, but it is a quick and handy tool for running inverses, lot closures, areas, etc.

I mostly wanted to see if I could get an old 16 bit DOS program to run on a WIN7 64 bit OS box, you sure can!

Now to get all of the older NGS software utilities to run.

Hey, it's not so bad. Another "bright side" is the amber 12" corner of our 24" LED monitors have a gazillion colors...

Thanks Shelby,
I just did that last night off of a backup of a previous computer and I ran into a glitch. I'm going back to the drawing board.

I just installed that on Friday too. Got Eaglepoint / iCad to run on it. Now I have to transfer all of my settings and stuff for that.

I gat a quick try, and was unsucessful to get PCCDU to connect to a HiPer through my USB-Serial adaptor. PCCDU runs, but I can't get that COM port. But at least I am making a bit of progress.

Where can I get a copy of WildSoft? Does anybody have it available on a website for download? Might any of you folks be able to send me an install copy on any media you can write to?

I don't know if I have media any longer, BUT if you PM me I can send a link to download the files I have. The program will only run in XP mode on WIN7 and I have had it operating before that in WIN98, so YMMV depending on what OS you have. I was never able to get print functions to work, but I believe printing to a file worked.

Getting WILDsoft to work in newer OS was mostly just a fun exercise, I have never used it in production, BUT did want to have ability to open old projects and export if necessary.

I tried posting a link here, BUT buried in the auto generated Dropbox shortcut link are the three consecutive letters F blank and K and that is a no go here on the board 😉
