After reading nearly every review of locators I could find I decided to finally retire a GA 72 to the "spare" list in favor of a XTd.

I've used it for a couple of weeks and have found it to be the best locator I've ever used. Much of my work lately involves finding corners where there's a significant amount of ferrous debris and this thing is far superior to the 72 and any 52's I've used. The first week I took a 52, the 72, and the new XTd to do a side by side by side, so to speak, and within just a few days the older two stayed in the Yukon. With a little practice I've noticed that I don't even need the volume, which is admittedly somewhat lacking, I just look at the display. I now consider a display essential especially when around heavy equipment and trying to hunt down that mud covered 60d control point.

I don't think I'll be replacing this one for quite some time and I can certainly highly recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade/replace.

I agree. We have a few, and love them...especially nice with the holster on the belt. One less thing to carry. Not cheap, but worth every penny.

It seems very short. Do you have to bend over to get it on the ground? Seems like that would tear your back up after a while.

The bending down hasn't been any kind of issue for me. At first you will do some bending due to the retraining and familiarizing aspect of a new peice of equipment, but once you've mastered the thing, and it doesn't take long, you won't have to bend.
