I think it's some type of tribrach adapter but to what? I found it in my dad's box of old surveying stuff. I think I have some foggy kid memory of it but I could be delusional. Secondly, if it is a surveying part, do you want it? You pay shipping.

Did your father own a Hewlett-Packard distance meter?

My (often wildly incorrect) memory tells me that is the adapter for the H-P distance meters for use with the Zeiss-style leveling bases.

Yes, he bought a HP3800 new and used a 3820 later on. I still have the 3800. That explains why the top looks familiar. The 3800 mounted on it. THANK YOU!

Great memory! The 3808 was the 1st DM I saw. Later got to work with the 3820.

On another note... (warning thread hyjack) Irma Hotel sound familiar? Staying there one night next month. 😀
