What is a "Professionial Surveyor"

> I think the current U.S. Common definition outside of professional sports is someone who works in an office and is highly paid, wearing a suit and tie helps. Obviously the Doc.s and Lawyers are included too. Outside workers are all viewed as tradesman regardless of the salary involved. Most people think everyone on the construction site is a skilled worker or tradesman, including the surveyor and resident engineer.

This I believe also. I am a licensed surveyor. I don't own the company, rarely am in the office, and my name is not on the side of the work truck. Clients always want to by pass me to talk to the professional. A copy of my license hangs on the wall of the office right beside his, same license. However, he usually works in the office wearing a polo shirt and khaki pants. I am standing on the clients property wearing jeans, a tee shirt and work boots. Obviously I'm not the guy to answer questions, even though I'm the one standing there looking at the evidence and the boss as never visited the site.

You and I are on opposite coasts. I gotta believe there's a lot of folks between us that think the way you put it.

What is a "Professionial Surveyor"

Given the public's view of traditional professions, such as law and medicine, and our professions own view of other modern design professionals, such as architects, I'm starting a campaign to be referred to as an artisan.

Truthfully though, if you're willing to pay me $180/hour, you can call me anything you want to.

What is a "Professionial Surveyor"

I've always considered myself a real surveyor; I just use the Spanish adjective definition of "real"......regal. 😀

Considering you mentioned it, you obviously feel that part of your problem is what you wear.

Maybe a collared shirt and a better set of work trousers that are not jeans could be in order.

Jeans and a t-shirt are generally regarded as casual.

What is a "Professionial Surveyor"

Somebody who should know better.

Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get me.
