To go on vacation:
We were starting a preliminary plan to send into the regulators so they can bless our idea.
Part of a semi large parcel had 12 acres cut out of it in the SE corner.
Since it's just preliminary we placed the GIS lines over a photo and sent it in, the 12 acres are so small they almost don't show up, it's more of a general location map at this point.
While I was out of town for a couple of weeks the landowner came in and was talking to the cad guy and said he needed to move the fence on the west side of the 12 acres to "line" it up with his deed (200' east into the 12 acre parcel).
Using the GIS lines shows all the occupation WAYY OFF, the poor guy with the 12 acres hardly ends up with anything since his east line is a highway and it had been expanded into him 10 years ago, moving the fence to the GIS lines would just leave a strip.
Turns out the landowner wasn't even looking at our map but the county one, cause he could zoom in and see just "where" the line "should" be.
I hadn't looked at the deeds yet but I sure did today, if you use the B & D's along with the tie the GIS makes sense, but if you read the deed and look at the descriptive calls the fences on the ground look good to me. Clearly the tie is wrong, the fence is "good" at least in a general sense and there is no reason to move anything, I wonder what would have happened if I went for three weeks, he had a fencer already lined up,,,,:(:(:(
Vacations are important but you pay for it when you get back. Time to play clean up and catch up. 😉

I'm hoping he didn't have a talk with the neighbor, next thing I will get one of "those" phone calls......
For me vacations mean working my a$$ off the week before to prep my crews, answering calls from top clients during, and working my a$$ off the week I get back to catch up. But it's worth it!
[SARCASM]I'm confused. You are supposed to take vacations from WORK, that's a given. But why take a vacation from surveying? S'veying ain't work! Hell, if it was work, it would pay![/SARCASM]

Same here.....
And it was worth it, good thing was it was a mess (weather, mud, ect.) while I was gone so didn't miss as much as usual; since I'm back we are having a second snow storm today:(
Big change from the vacation weather:
It did rain a couple of times:
Had the client moved his fence on account of my CAD tech that would have eaten me alive. I'm still trying to get it through one of my techs brains that just because a record description says "5/8-inch iron rod found" doesn't mean he can put "found" on our survey plat...unless we actually find it. Those pics look nice. Where did you go?...in case I get to go on vacation one day..

Went on a sailing trip to the BVI, nice and mellow, not much of an adventure, more of an urban sailing experience:cool:

I haven't been back in a few years. They recently sold half the resort (the uphill part with the pool) to convert to condos and kept the buildings by the beach. The food and rooms were average, but the beach was spectacular.
I think we're going to go here next winter

Those Cottages look nice, I was moored just north of Long Bay at Cane Garden, just a few boats and 1500 of our close friends taxied in from a cruise ship. They were only there for a few hours till the shuttles came back and honked their way back up and over the mountain.
