That model of compass is my favorite for running recon lines. Somebody got a real deal on it.

That's about what I paid Warren-Knight last month for a couple of replacement pivot assemblies for the compass needle on that model. Now, if I can just remember where I put the compass, I'll be in great shape. :> It's pretty useful for corner search when bearing trees are involved and marked lines run through timber.

There is another WK on the auction list and it looks to be in better condition. Currently at $10.74
I signed in...
There are two bidders. Steakhouse and our own Radar.

But it says you have to pick up the item.

I checked and there is a local taxi service that provides pick-up delivery and there is a UPS Store along the campus that packs and ships.
so maybe an out of state bidder could make arrangements...

but I'm out....;-)

In Louisiana, the Lake Charles shipyard is auctioning off a dozer and dumpsters full of copper wire.

I can pick it up for you if you need a local! It's just right down the road from me. About 1/2 hour! Sounds like a great deal and I would be glad to help someone out.

3, actually; somebody by the name of DirtySanchez bumped it up this morning....;-)

I have a brother in-law that lives in Deary; I'll have him pick it up for me, after I win the auction....B-)

Figured I would give you a run for your money or at least that other guy but your lucky, I'm broke! Too good to not bid at that price! I tried doing minimum bids but somebody had a higher proxy bid that I had to beat to get in the runnin'. Sorry.

A guy like me could get pretty dangerous out there with one of those things!

Darn internet ruins EVERYTHING!

About that Staff Compass.

I would like to make you a staff for it.
Mine are way better than you can buy.
Would you agree to that?
I don't have the Warren Knight toggle to fit the end, but I guess it is about the same as the K&E?
I would do it for cost for you.

What do you think?

Luke

What sort of a shoe or foot do you put on your staffs/staves? I might be interested.

The shoe or foot is already attached, the way I do it.
I will take a photo and see if I can post that for you to look at.
This is the way I learned to do it from the old timers.
The first one I had to make was following me breaking mine on a Porkipine! (sp)

The ones from the store are not even close.
We will see what I can do.....

Well, with that pitch, who can fail to want to see the sort of compass staff available? Not me!

Luke, I'm interested as well. Mine is a gurley, in need of a staff. Yikes, that doesn't sound right, but it's true:-|

Sorry, I'm kinda late reading this.....

Sounds like a good idea, but I think the bidder, dirtysanchez, $79.88, will be the proud owner...:'(

Oh well, maybe they will put up another one.
B-)
