I've been told by the people who file my plats at the RRC that there is a file size that the .tiff file has to be under. Does anyone know what the limit is?
Can the plat have color on it?
Have always prepared a legal size in black and white.
Do you know where to find the rules on the subject? I've done them in black and white but this one is a little more complicated and would benefit from the use of a larger more colorful plat.

Good luck. @Andy Nold showed where he could do it on an 11"x17" once, but it was horizontal well and showed about 4000 acres. They made me do one of 3100 acres on a legal sheet. No color though. Search the RRC plat requirements but note that the type of well has different plat requirements, such as the horizontal wells have to be signed by a surveyor or engineer while the vertical holes don't have to be. I just ran into that the other day and was shown the different requirements.
Yeah, depending on the client and the well I submit legal size and ledger size. Everything I send out is in color. Most clients only ask for PDF files, but one wants a TIFF and a PDF. What happens before it gets to the RRC, I do not know.
I did a lot of work in the area west of MAF, but when one of our RPLS left, he took the client with him. It looks like all of the plats I submitted were revised so the filed examples of a ledger sized plat are not mine. http://webapps.rrc.state.tx.us/DP/drillDownQueryAction.do?fromPublicQuery=Y&name=KENDRA-ANNIE%2B11&univDocNo=489883531
So I had a chat with the mapping department and the drilling permits department about using color and 11x17. They said both were fine as long as the .Tiff file that is submitted is less than 4mb in size. They said they wouldn't have a problem with it if I did that on every one.

Just as long as your surveyed section lines agree with their GIS lines. Otherwise, #problemletter
