Thank you for the replies and opinions. We are expecting to spend between $30k-40k. I also don't think we are interested in the Carlson/geomax cr2 stations. If we decided to go with geomax, I feel as though the 90 would definitely be our choice. We do not upgrade often, so when we do, we prefer to get the newest tech we can afford. I feel as though "back-stepping" to a cr2 just because of the lower price is a poor decision for us personally, primarily because of the older tech.
We have been reading and studying a lot of information over the past few weeks and our biggest unknowns still remain in the data collection hardware and software. We definitely want to go the tablet route. The larger screen, ruggedness and ability to easily swap batteries in the field are major key points. Often we can be in the field for 12+ hours or extreme temps such as single digit weather with wind chills below zero (that can be quite harsh on battery life).
Software wise, we certainly want something civil 3D friendly/compatible and will offer us the most functionality for all forms of use. As mentioned before, we are primarily construction based but also perform boundary surveys and other services. A software that will offer the greater options, functions and possibly function with both the robot and gnss would be ideal. I don't think we are as concerned about ease of use or streamline within the program itself. Sometimes (don't as me why) but a "clunkier" program that offers way more options and ability to customize to our preference is more our style than something simple/streamlined that is limited to it feature abilities. Which would probably also explain why we are Civil3d users in our office software rather than something more survey friendly like Carlson (haha).
So any suggestions on this topic would also be greatly appreciated!
