Ring ring #1--?ÿ Hi, my father had a survey done on his property about 1977.?ÿ Would you be the one who did that survey?
(insert the standard 30 questions and inadequate answers)
I return her call:?ÿ Sorry, Ma'am, but that definitely was not me.?ÿ You might check with Surveyor A and Surveyor B.
Her response:?ÿ I just found out it was Surveyor B's firm.?ÿ What I want to do now is sell the little tract that is trapped between the tract they surveyed and the north line of the property.?ÿ They said that would cost $1500.?ÿ Can you believe that??ÿ For such a tiny bit of ground??ÿ That's almost as much as what I've already agreed to sell it for.
My response:?ÿ Yes, Ma'am, I believe it.?ÿ My fee would be closer to $2500 to do what you just asked to have done.?ÿ You either need to cancel the sale or bump the price up to accept their very good price for surveying it.
Her comment:?ÿ WELL, I NEVER!!!!

Ring ring #2-- Hi, I'm a real estate agent and I have found a buyer for this listing at 12345 Endless Boredom Road.?ÿ Do you know if that has ever been surveyed?
Me:?ÿ I don't think I've ever done one there but someone else may have done so.
Her:?ÿ They don't want to pay to get a new survey but just wanted to know if one had been done.?ÿ Goodbye.

Around these parts; most of the jobs I don't get, are because I can't get to them tomorrow. Price isn't a problem...
These are both hilarious and horrendous.
Makes one wonder how far back the disconnected reality that exists today about how when where and why Surveying exists....

Endless Boredom Road.?ÿ I want to move there. Tomorrow.?ÿ
They don't want to pay to get a new survey but just wanted to know if one had been done.?ÿ Goodbye.
Insult you and waste your time all in 1 little sentence.?ÿ The efficiency is remarkable.?ÿ If I could bottle this and sell it, well, I wouldn't need to survey anymore. ????ÿ
My response:?ÿ Yes, Ma'am, I believe it.?ÿ My fee would be closer to $2500 to do what you just asked to have done.?ÿ You either need to cancel the sale or bump the price up to accept their very good price for surveying it.
I use some variation of this pretty often. I figure if I am matching the other guy, I messed up.
