All has anyone figured out how to get the TSC5 running a driver or app to connect to a total station? I have an Nikon npl older total station and we have a USBc to serial adapter cable but cannot get it to communicate. I know are Trimble TSC7 works so Nikon DC cable is good. I am assuming the android base system needs some type of driver installed or app to allow it to use the USBc port and serial cable. I am APP illiterate LOL. I figures someone has maybe attempted this. Or bought the bluetooth to hirose adapter and connected that way to an older total station.

I've asked around and the general feeling is it wont work.

The problem being that Android does not know how to do serial data via the usb port like Windows can.

It might be able to be made to work if you can ever find a cable that does USB-C to DB9 serial that works on your version of android.

Me, I'd go for a bluetooth solution.

@jimcox Thank you. I am getting about the same type answers around as you have. Only one that was hopeful is getting the drivers that will allow the usb c from android to see the rs232 to the data collector and the actual data collector cable. ?ÿI might burn 50$ just to see if the Bluetooth thing will work. I know that nikon makes a usb cable to instrument for downloading to a computer as well but again itƒ??s about the tsc5 communication both ways from the Trimble access via droid operating system. Thank you. I will keep looking for a bit. ?ÿ We were told it worked. But it is not a deal breaker yet we hardly use the old total station anyway. Just some think its more accurate than robot. Specs say different though. 3ƒ? both angular between robot and nikon. Edm nikon is 3mm + 2ppm x dist. Robot 1mm + 2ppm etc. now prisms make a difference also.?ÿ

Curious did you ever find a solution that worked?

Oh man yes. We had to update the total station is all. It just didn’t work for the Bluetooth adapter contraption we made. It was a much older Nikon. I ended up finishing the job with a Nikon that was already Bluetooth enabled and it worked fine. It took me a while to remember that issue i had been a while and totally different company.
