The highlighted section is Section 7, Township 30 North, Range 33 West in Missouri. The border highlighted is the exterior of the entire township. The west line of the township is the Missouri/Kansas state line. You can see how the sections in the western tier of the township grew to be about 1.7 miles east-west. Lots of Lots (government lots, that is). I'm thinking the original survey was close to 1827, but might be off a couple of years. The thread below about subdividing government lots made me think of these huge sections in Missouri.

Also notice the difference between "East" in Missouri versus "East" in Kansas.

Danger, Will Robinson!

If you're planning on working in there I hope all the Lots are owned by the same entity.:pinch:

You also might need some help. Maybe someone named Jack Daniels...

good luck, amigo

Danger, Will Robinson!

Here is a section 6 that I've done a lot of work in. Sec 6, T31N, R1E, 4th PM.
Yes, that west line of Section 6 is the 4th Prinicpal Meridian. The south line is about 400 feet short of original but that hasn't been much of an issue. A good chunk of the west part is/was owned by one family for the past 45 year with smaller lots being sold at the rate of about 2 per year. And there are not fences in there to mess things up!
