I'm offering this as a trivia puzzle for the rest of the POB crowd... I'm on travel this week for my job, and I ran across this benchmark today during my ride to work... thought it might be recognizable to somebody on this board.... (I know where and what it is, just wanted to see if anyone else has been here...)

First, this is how it looked as I approached... doesn't appear to be to have been occupied for quite some time. The forced-centering triangle-type plate shows evidence of the climate that it's been exposed to.

Here's a picture with the aluminum forced-centering plate removed. It's hard to read, but the name of the benchmark, stamped in the "LAT" block is "Fisher" with a date of 1972. The "LON" block is blank.

Placed around it at different concrete pads are several of these- here's a closeup of this one, a DMA mark - dated 1986

And finally, a picture of it with some background scenery. The bike in the scene is how I get to work this week while on travel for my job.

Let the guessing begin!

My guess would be the same as Stephen. Kwajalein, Marshall Islands

Stephen and Antcrook are correct- this is at the western end of the island of Kwajalein, near the telemetry hill called "Mt Olympus" (which is the highest point on the island, about 40 feet high- they had to dredge material from the lagoon to raise the elevation.) The rest of the island has a mean elevation of about 8 ft.
