I'm restoring an old Topcon Fiberglass/wood tripod. It's missing a single leg tip (see image).
I've looked at a couple places (stake mill, etc.), and found them at a reasonable enough price (around $2), but they want almost $20 for shipping!
Anybody have a favorite supply house that might have these?

Try Troy Deaton at Geo-Tronics.

He shipped me something a week or so ago using the USPS flat rate shipping.

Here is his info:

I have made my own using an all thread or bolt and a nut.

Grind it to a point and it is good to go.

Great idea. I'll give that a try.

That looks like a replaceable tip from a seco aluminum prism pole point, I use them and they fit into the foot of the tripod thread, I think you just need to grind it a bit to accommodate the angle of the foot.

to cover costs you could order a aluminum prism pole point with a couple of extra steel tips, then you would have a new prism pole point and replacement tips and a fix for your tripod.

here is the titanium point system, the aluminum one is the same

However if you are using older style leica prism poles then this wont work for you.
