If youre talking about this it doesn feel like a pain.

I dont know if its buggy, will test asap but all it seems to want is pair with a device enter adress into a browser and navigate from there
Lastly and this is critical Does anyone know where i can get a windows DEMO of Trimble Access? I cannot find it anywhere on trimble site, i have even asked Trimble Resselers and have not gotten an answer. I need to test its functionality run some diagnostics and compare results with the survey pro DEMO before i start looking fro a used DC.
That picture and video is an R2, not an R8s. They are two very different things. The Web UI might be easier / better on the R8s then it was on previous versions of the R8.
There is no free Windows demo of Access.
How and why did you get an R8s if you don't know any of this stuff? Trimble has a very good dealer network whose job it is to answer all these questions and guide you into the proper solution, I would suggest that you contact them.
Of course it is an R2, the focus was on the webui which i imagine should be the same or fairly similar, and thus no big deal like what the R8 an older might have been.
I am just a new up and coming surveyor and this was the first GPS equipment i purchased, and in order to save some money i got it in hopes of working it with a Carlson Software. I found out it does not work, so up until the moment i save and buy a proper controller or a used one, i'll just practice with whatever functionality is available and patiently make due.
Its no big deal, i will be patient, and everything will move along as it should.
Trimble has a smartphone app that you can use with the R8s. I use this app with my R2:
- Trimble DL App (Android only) will allow you to collect static data. Once you collect the static data on the receiver, connect to it via the web interface to download the data for external processing. The web interface can convert to rinex for OPUS or you can use the T02 file directly with Trimble's RTX processing service.
If you only need to do GNSS surveying with the data collector, take a look at the Trimble Slate. It works great with my R2, but won't connect to a total station or scanner. The Slate with Access software and extended battery is $3500.
Thats much better thank You. I couldnt get it working with the previous method of translating the blueooth into a COM port, and using that legacy apps (GPSConfig/DataTransfer/WEBui from Browser etc). I will now experiment with static solutions and set up my BASE point.
Besides the .TO2 files stored inside the device is there any other data that is stored and can only be access by the null modem cable? I only need to know cause the Trimble rep said the unit gets cluttered as it fills up with Data inside, but if i just grab and delete all the unesecary .TO2 static files, what else is there that accumulates inside its memory?

An R8-3 will run on Survey Controller 12.49 - I have ours running on it now.
Edit_ I see now R8"s" that't the new version. Sorry, probably screwed, need Access.
