I am trying to get RTK corrections using a handheld dual frequency GeoXH. I am trying to tie into the single base network using a cell phone with modem. I have step by step directions.
I can add a new device ( cell phone) using Bluetooth but when I try to add a new modem connection (using the com I just setup with the phone) the Bluetooth does not find the phone?
Anyone have any experience with this?
Any help would be great
Thanks

I think you have to add the cell phone as a modem, and not a phone.

Then when you activate the phone will require you to OK the GeoXH asking to control the phone.

It's been a while since I've done it this way, if the phone has hot spot built in you're better off to turn it on and hook up to the wifi signal it emanates.

Hi,

Which model type of GeoXH are you using? 2005, 2008, 3000 or 6000 series?

From your port you seem to have paired via bluetooth. Did you make sure that the use as dialup modem option was ticked? Also what phone are you using? Smartphones(iphone, android) don't allow the dialup option when pairing via bluetooth.

If you then go into connections > create new connection

You should be able to set up the connection using bluetooth as the modem. You will then need the APN settings for network you are using, followed by username and password. These are for the carrier network not you base if you have logins setup.

In the older 2005 and 2008 models you sometimes need to use the dial string editor as well to have the correct dial string entered.

What software are you running? GeoXH is GIS, GeoXR is survey. If you're running GIS software my help ends at "you're better off with WiFi".

What is the difference GeoXH vs GeoXR.
The Geoxh we have uses Terrasync.

You should be able to connect to the wifi hotspot on the Geo easily. Check on your iphone what the password is. Its somewhere in the settings. Can't tell you where as I've never had an iphone.
On the 6000 you should be able to setup a wifi connection through the settings > connections menu. You don't have to worry about carrier APN, username etc, this is taken care of by the iphone.
You should be then able to connect to the internet. Then in whatever software you are using enter in the IP address of the single base you are using and connect to the correction stream.

The GeoXR uses an external tornado antenna in conjunction with standard Trimble Access software. Pretty nice setup, actually. I have gotten better performance with one of these on the WV RTN system in canopy than anything I have ever used.

You can use Terrasync with the external antenna and VRS, also, I just have no idea how to set it up.

Set your iphone to hotspot, note the SSID it transmits and then use Windows mobile on the GeoXH to connect to it.

I think it's manage wireless connections or something like that.

This is the routine I developed:

And it seems to work ONLY in this order.

On your iPhone,
Tap Settings
Tap Wi-Fi
Slide button to green
Tap <Settings

Tap Personal Hotspot
Slide button to green
Tap <Settings

Tap Cellular
Pan down to Use Cellular Data For
Slide all buttons to white or off

On the GeoXH,
Press green button to power on unit
Tap windows icon to get to Home screen
Tap the Taskbar at the top
Tap the PDA icon with two arrows
Tap Wireless Manager
Tap Wi-Fi to enable connections, it should be dark blue and read “on”
Tap Menu
Tap Wi-Fi Settings
Find and tap iPhone (or whatever you named it)
It may ask you a few questions regarding the settings, accept through by hitting
Next
Next
Finish
Tap Connect
Once the iPhone line is labeled, Connected
Tap OK
if you are working with someone else, the phone must stay with the receiver

Re-entering the password to connect to the iPhone has helped in the past.
