I am looking into getting a Trimble license to use Trimble Business Center, what are the differences between the dongle license and the network license? I will be working with a Trimble R 10 system, do I need the license for the R10 as well? or Trimble Access?

I don't know the difference between the dongle and the network license. I can see no benefit to a network license unless you're an office boy strapped to your work station or you have several folks drafting and using the software at the same time.

The dongle could be lost easily if several folks are using it. Mines stuck in my laptop and I forgot all about it till you mentioned it.

Access will have its own license, i recommend paying for the yearly software Maintenance to keep up to date with upgrades as they are frequent and important.

Tbc works either dongle or network. Network is handy if you have a few users. I also suggest software Maintenance here as well. If either access or tbc get too far out of date with each other then they lose compatability.

Id suggest getting the network license and installing it on an intel compute?ÿ

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/boards-kits/compute-stick.html

?ÿ

The compute sticks are super cheap and extremely small. That way you have all the benefits of the dongle - portability - but with the added benefits of the network license - multi user. You still need to be on the same network but this way you have the ability to take it home with you and its not stuck on a server or pc at the office.

Our guys in the field have the dongles. Us office weenies have a network license. I think I can check one out if I need to. I just have never needed that option yet. If need be I would just vpn to our network in a pinch and then it would ping our license server. Thatƒ??s what I have to do with arcgis.?ÿ
