Dropped last month. Marketed as more of a GIS tool than a surveying tool, but it looks impressive.
Certainly it looks better than the DA1, which was GPS-only. I played around with the DA1 a few years ago and liked the concept and interface but was underwhelmed by the technical performance.
More and more munis and cities/towns are doing their own mapping. For sure, there are cases where a licensed surveyor is required by law and the organization will contract with someone like ourselves, but we all know the tech is far more accessible to non-surveyors than it used to be. I'm wondering how long before they keep everything but LS-required work totally in house.
In addition, surveyors rarely collect attributed datasets, just points with a 3- or 4-character code which require a lot of retro-fitting on the back end to go into a geodatabase. I haven't personally seen many contracts requiring GIS deliverables, but I can see where in the future it might be required along with a stamped survey.

Catalyst has no receiver. The antenna is just to enhance the signals. The processing is done by your phone. The concept is great but since it is not an actual receiver, performance is not great. It cannot negotiate canopies and urban canyons. Plus side is that Trimble allows third party software to work with it. You can use the RTX service in place of CORS. It can even use RTX via L-band, so can work out of network coverage as well.
GIS in the field is getting popular to query and update your data in real-time. I would also recommend Ublox ZED-F9P based receivers for use with CORS networks.

I agree w/ the ublox recommendation for GIS.?ÿ The Emlid RS2 we have works quite well off the local RTN.?ÿ It's a fantastic value for GIS work.
@jaccen how's the hardware quality of Emlid? They are advertised as super long battery and IP67.
There is a correction service like RTX now for Ublox called PointPerfect. Did you try?

Hardware quality is quite good.?ÿ I have used in rain, snow, and combinations of those two.

I have only used it for static and RTN work off the Topnet network.
