Good morning to all of you, and happy Friday! I'm wondering if anyone can help me with a situation. We rented some equipment the other day and I went out and ran a Trimble VX robot, which worked pretty well. I realize now that I accidentally used a distance offset the incorrect way (should have been left, but I used right). Can I change this in either TBC or TGO? I don't have the data collector anymore, as that is back with the company we rented it from. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello,

If you have the raw observations file and your distances problems are in-out (as opposed to left/right as you mention), I believe that in Trimble Geomatics Office you can:

  • Select all observations (vectors) that are to be adjusted
  • Right-click, select multi-edit.
  • Change the prism offset value
  • Re-process by hitting the red button at the lower right of the screen

With Trimble Business Center, same method but you must first set-up a meeting.

I don't know what format your raw data is in, but the format I'm most familiar with (DC50, which is TDS with some tweaks) records a right offset as positive and a left offset as negative, both as viewed from the gun. The data collector then changes the horizontal angle of the sideshot record to reflect the offset. In order to repair a right-left mixup you'd have to correct the angle for each shot in the raw data and then reprocess the raw data file to produce revised coordinates. (You could also do it in CAD.) If there are a lot of them, it could be pretty tedious.

Good luck.

What dc/software did you use,
can't you put the job file on your own dc (suppose you have one?) and correct the offsets and then transfer again to TGO.

I don't think you can change these offsets in TGO, don't know about TBC.

chr.

Well, I finally got my answer for it. Apparently you have to have TBC version 2.5 to change it in the office. Unfortunately I have 2.4 at the office. However, I was fortunate enough to call the sales rep and see if he still had the data collector, which he did. I asked him to change the two point numbers and it recomputed wonderfully. Apparently the makers at Trimble have had a complaint or two about this before, so they enabled it to be changed in their latest version.
