I had the great good fortune to visit Perth in 1985 while stationed aboard the USS Midway. I don't remember a lot of specifics but I do remember that it was a great city and the people were fantastic. At the time the city was very excited about the America's Cup; I think the locals were a bit surprised to learn that most of us American sailors knew little or nothing about it.
