Does anyone out there still use the Topcon Turbo SII GPS receivers? I have three of them. They all seem to collect data in the static mode fine (I haven't had a chance to collect in any other mode yet), I am able to convert the turbo binary (TB file) to a Rinex obs file. However I am having some problems processing at the opus site but I am pretty sure that is a collection error - I need to recollect this weekend to verify this. Anyway, The software version installed on the Topcon GPS Turbo S II is v1.0Y 1998/11/04 10:04:01 - Maybe there is a newer
version? The download and processing software that I have for this is "Topcon GPS Processing Software Version 99.04.01 - maybe there is a newer version of another program for processing? also, I use the Teqc dos type program to convert the tb to a obs. I know this is old stuff, but I am hoping I can still get it to work for what i need. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
I haven't used Topcon in many years, but I used to use a program called Topcon Link to convert files for OPUS.
I haven't heard about those in a long while. Those receivers were made by the Allen Osborne, Inc. company out of Westlake Village (Thousand Oaks area), CA and branded for Topcon. They were eventually sold out to another company around 2004-05 after Allen passed away. You may want to try googling them to see whats available.
I had the same problem with the Turbo S II years ago. I discovered that the old Topcon antenna was the problem. I switched to a Trimble Compact L1-L2 antenna. The data I collected was much cleaner and processed through OPUS better.
thanks for the info. id you use the trimble antenna with the turbo receiver? Was the trimble antenna directly compatable with the turbo receiver? did you need to install any other software or obtain new connection wires? thanks.

I would be interested in seeing one of your RINEX files (that you have tried sending to OPUS).

I recall a problem reported by at least one user in which a soldered electrical/structural joint inside the antenna housing failed and caused the antennas to perform poorly. I don't know how widespread the problem was.
Are those with the yellow or white antenna?
Used them in 1990s if I remember them correctly.
I do recall however that there was a time that we had some
problems with data collecting or downloading the wrong date.
Had something to do with the Y2K rollover date in the software
or firmware. I think the company where I was working then
sent them back to have the firmware updated to work correctly
after the year 2000 or something.
